To whom much is given, much is expected.
-My Mom
Why Animas:
After a poor DHS experience, with grades, teacher connections and even relations with my peers, I decided that I wanted to try out animas. After a good experience at Mountain Middle School, I was also very hopeful for switching back to this style of learning. I am really looking forward to meeting new people and learning in a better environment for me, I am also very excited for school field trips and some of the extracurriculars to come. After I graduate I would like to go to collage for a music, and business. My goal is to become a self sustaining producer, but I would like to get my business degree as well to help me along the way. I have had a lot of different views on education and what it means to me, from hating and feeling like it is a pointless thing, with very little help for the real world, to understanding its importance in my life to come. Currently I feel that education is a very important part of having a sustaining life later on, I struggle with it often but I try my best to understand the necessity of schooling and other forms of education.

Senior Goals/My Place at Animas:

This upcoming year, as I become a senior (Graduating class of 2024), I have a couple hopes for my role at animas. I hope to be able to come back to school and bring a culture of creativity and acceptance into the community. I wish to be someone that others can look to in a time of need for support, rather than someone whom others look to because of popularity. I also have hopes for making a difference with my senior project, as I wish to show others good support systems, and really display my meaning through my music. I believe that I could make a difference in the high-school experience for so many just by helping rising high-school students accept themselves first.

Link Reflection:
During my link internship, doing music in and around Durango, I learned and further developed many skills, between using lots of music theory, some tech skills, cable management, and adjusting and equalizing sound, there really was no limit to what I could learn and refine during my time. While working with the different music corporations, I found there are a couple skills in the music industry that are fairly necessary; wrapping chords, understanding how to equalize sound, a little bit of confidence, and a love for music. My internship, “Music in and Around Durango” Involved a lot of music corporations, the KDUR radio, and a lot of festivals to make it happen, and while I was working through I found many shortcomings to improve upon with my music industry skills. One main thing, especially at concerts/festivals, is figuring out how to help even with no clear direction of what to do, as a large part of my job was finding tasks and supporting others. With my young back and strength, I did a lot of heavy lifting for some of the older guys in the industry, and with more interns who they don’t have to pay, Music Masters, and IAmMusic could have a much easier time with their work. Not only this but they get a chance to spread the love of music and the music business around the community more, which could also help grow their companies. All in all my internship really helped me invest into the music industry and get a good look at most of the occupations and jobs i could do within it, giving me good skills for trying to get jobs/gigs in the future, and it inspires me more to pursue music and my dreams.
